An estimated 60 million people inhabited the Americas in the year 1400. All of these people were brown skinned.
The arrival of many millions of Europeans reshaped the America’s demographic landscape. The indigenous peoples were decimated, absorbed into the Eruopean population or found a way to survive.
The millions of migrants clamoring to enter the United States signal a radical demographic change. One way or another many of these non-white people will successfully struggle to make new lives here. The descendants of the indigenous people who greeted the first European immigrants are reoccupying their native land.
That is for many white Americans a disturbing and even scary reality. Neither Mexico nor the United States are capable of thwarting this change. The best they can do is slow it. It is clear that Mexican and American authorities haven’t the resources or immigration and law enforcement personnel to do more than that.
Laws, executive order and political grandstanding will have minimal effect on this phenomenon.
