We Were Always Here: A Mexicn American's Odyssey

What Diversity, Inclusion and Equality?

DEI, R.I.P. We Hardly Knew You.

I am tempted to say that putting an end to the federal government’s DEI programs is symbolic. Numbers tell us that the programs were not about much.

The overall distribution of federal employees is 55.8% male and 44.2% female. White employees represent 61.1% of the permanent federal workforce. Overall, white males constitute about 33.9% of the federal workforce.

White males are more heavily represented in the Senior Executive Service, the highest-ranking career position. As of 2022, 43.2% of SES positions overall federal workforce.

Approximately 61% of federal employees are white, 18% are Black or African American, 9.5% are Hispanic or Latino, 6.5% are Asian, and smaller percentages represent Native American/Alaskan Native (1.6%) and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (0.6%) groups. In Senior Executive Service, diversity decreases significantly at higher levels of leadership. Over 75% of senior executives are white, with lower representation from other racial and ethnic groups were held by white men.

Now, nobody even has to go through the motions of DEI.
