We Were Always Here: A Mexicn American's Odyssey

About the Border and Money

In 2023, the United States traded close to 799 billion U.S. dollars‘ worth of goods with their neighbor. That year, the U.S. imported more goods from Mexico than it exported, leading to a trade deficit, or negative trade balance.

In 2023, trade between Texas and Mexico totaled $272.3 billion, with $129.6 billion in exports and $142.7 billion in imports. This makes Mexico Texas’ top trading partner for the 16th year in a row.

Trump and fellow xenophobes never mention these stats when yammering about the border. In his own words, Trump said he would close the border, and Biden should do that right away.
